THE UNITED STATES OF WOMAN

THE UNITED STATES OF WOMAN is a photographic staging that examines female role models as performative constructions. Developed in collaboration with a drag performer, the series references A Portfolio of Models (1974) by Martha Wilson, translating stereotypical images of femininity into a contemporary context.

Costume, posture, and chosen locations function as tools of staging, revealing how identity is visually constructed. The work understands femininity not as an inherent quality, but as a performative practice that can be appropriated, exaggerated, and shifted.
